Assistive Resources and Talking Book Center provides access to books, equipment, technology and resources designed for individuals with disabilities. ARTBC is part of the , providing specialized library service to Chicagoans experiencing temporary or permanent low vision, blindness, or a physical, perceptual, or reading disability that prevents them from using regular print materials. Through this partnership, we provide access to books and magazines in braille or audio that are instantly downloadable to a personal device or delivered by mail free of charge to Chicagoans unable to read or use standard printed materials as a result of blindness, low vision, a physical disability or a reading disability (such as dyslexia) with a biological basis.

Librarians and readers advisors are available to assist patrons with materials selection and provide information and referrals.

Computer Training Source Inc. has training programs approved for funding by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and the Trade Adjustment Act (TAA). We are a WIOA Training Provider. The WIOA training grants can pay for all the costs of your training program, if you qualify. You can qualify for WIOA if you have been laid off, if you are low income, if you are a veteran, if you are a displaced homemaker, and several other ways. The Adult Learners Programs and Services (ALPS) offers one-on-one and small group tutoring in reading, writing, math, English as a Second Language (ESL), GED preparation, and computer skills.

Free Computer Skill classes are given at The Learning Center. Students can learn basic computer skills and topics that include: Introduction to Computer and Internet, Microsoft Office (Word/Publisher/Excel/Powerpoint)Typing, Job Searches, and Resume Building. Classes are offered Monday – Thursday: 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM.

The Chicago Public Library offers both small group classes and one-on-one sessions in computer instruction at 45 library locations throughout the city. The program is called CyberNavigators. One-on-one sessions are by appointment only and may last up to one hour. 



In order to help community members gain access to technology and digital literacy resources, the Y now offers in-person computer labs, known Tech Hubs, at several YMCA locations! Community members can use these free resources to take care of important tasks, such as registering for a COVID-19 vaccine, free digital literacy resources, job searching, grocery shopping, and much more!
