The Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC) today announced a gift of $1 million from the Lefkofsky Family Foundation.
Through their foundation, Liz and Eric Lefkofsky directed the gift to the capital campaign for the Shirley Ryan ³Ô¹ÏÌìÌÃ91, RIC¡¯s state-of-the-art research hospital, set to open in early 2017. The $550 million, 1.2-million-square-foot Shirley Ryan ³Ô¹ÏÌìÌÃ91 will be the first-ever ¡°translational¡± research hospital in which clinicians, scientists, innovators and technologists will work together in the same space, applying (or ¡°translating¡±) research real time. Specifically, the Foundation¡¯s gift will underwrite the reception space in the pediatric outpatient area.
¡°We are thrilled to support RIC and the amazing work it does to help so many patients begin their journey to restore their lives,¡± said Eric Lefkofsky, Groupon Chairman and Co-founder.
