Treating Edema in the Upper Extremity
Description: This webinar discusses basic concepts of the lymphatic system¡¯s physiology as it relates to upper extremity edema in various populations. Participants will learn to assess edema and distinguish it from lymphedema, as well as to provide appropriate interventions to reduce volume, maximize function and protect skin integrity for clients with upper extremity swelling.
Objectives: Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Recall the primary causes of edema in the upper extremity
- Identify difference between edema and lymphedema
- Determine proper interventions for edema management based on
client-specific factors - Evaluate the effectiveness of selected interventions for edema management
