Long-time Shirley Ryan ³Ô¹ÏÌìÌÃ91 team member Dinh To recently received The Schwartz Center for Compassionate Healthcare¡¯s National Compassionate Caregivers of the Year (NCCY) Award ¡ª an award celebrating caregivers who display extraordinary devotion and compassion in caring for patients and families.
Dinh was one of only three NCCY winners for 2024, selected from among hundreds of nominees across the United States.
Dinh has been a Shirley Ryan ³Ô¹ÏÌìÌÃ91 employee for 25 years, now serving as a workers compensation care manager. His first decade was as a social worker and care manager for patients following traumatic and non-traumatic brain injuries and strokes. For the next 13 years, Dinh was a full-time coverage care manager for inpatient services, serving additional patient populations ¡ª including pediatric patients and those with spinal cord injuries and medically complex conditions such as burns, amputations and neuromuscular conditions.
¡°Social work is not a glamorous profession. However, when you put purpose to what you do on a daily basis, I find that it¡¯s very rewarding,¡± Dinh said. ¡°Every day I walk through the front door, I recognize this is important work in a place where I can actually make a difference in someone¡¯s life.¡±
